Job lost, self found

Wed Dec 10, 2008, 9:50 PM
It seems I may finally have time to brish up on my drawing skills. After 2 months of not being paid and driven into the ground by my suckface of a company, I finally had to quit my job. So now my time is spent playing Kingdom hearts re:Chain of memories, drawing, working on a freelance studio project, and looking for a new paying job. i have to say though...it's amazing what a job will teach you about yourself. Especially when shit gets tough. I am one damn hard worker. Even when I wasn't being paid I still worked crazy overtime while some of my other coworkers sat around and starred at their screens. I didn't even WANT to be working. Guess I'm more of a New Yorker than I'd like to believe. It's what happens when your Grandfather teaches you what a real work ethic is by example from a very young age.

Hopefully this means I'll have real time to draw. As in real time, not the fake pretend time that used to be dangled in front of my face on weekends and then be taken away with one horrible phonecall from work.

On another note, I really love Super H-mart. We found ne out in Riverdale, which isn't too far from my house! Korean supermarkets ftw!

Also, I love Christmas time. I decorated the house with lights and garland and reindeer, and it makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. Now, I need to figure out how to work the fireplace.

  • Mood: Christmas Spirited
  • Listening to: Pendulum - Propane Nightmares
  • Reading: Out Stealing Horses
  • Watching: Pride
  • Playing: Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of memories
  • Eating: Cinnamon Rasiin bread with butter
  • Drinking: SoBe Power

heh, i learned something about myself too: i'm only a hard worker until i get angry, then i say "f*ck it" and bugger off. ha ha. naw, but seriously, i wrote all about your work ethic in my recomendation letter; it's not often that you see somebody who will put up with that much crap. well, good luck with being a bum; enjoy it while you can, this is a good time of year to be free of obligation.

i hate everything about my job, which intensifies when i'm working overtime. sometimes, when i a bublling cauldron of hate for what i'm doing i'll think to myself 'hell, i don't freaking care, i'm not gonna bother' to something i know i should do. then i end up doing it anyways, cause i just can't not work like i know i should.

i really hate it when they give me a job that involves a lot of standing around and waiting on somebody else, like a forklift or something. since they can't occupy my mind with anything there, the least they could do is try to occupy my body.

God i hope i get laid off.

and for your fireplace, if all else fails try gasoline.

Yeah, I figure I'll enjoy it until the new year, and then start working again. I men, I'm still looking, but if nothing comes up, thats okay. If something DOES come up, I'll jump on it though.
:iconfrateroshi:
yeah same here; except now another thing came up, so my vacation is kinda done for the moment. bah well, there's plenty of time to be a bum in the spring. good luck with everything, though; i name drop you whenever i can.

Mewr, I'm still only working part time after a year and a half of graduating. Uhhh... Nice catching up! Love you guys. Ciao :::rides away on a vespa smoking a cigarette pretentiously:::

If you stop drawing your mom will say, "I told you so."

see, my confidence comes from the fact that flash developement is my fallback skill, and there is no shortage of work in that field. but as far as animation goes, i think we're all still in the same stage. so learn a fallback skill, man! i've got scripting, danielle's got web design, you could do male modeling, you sexy beast!

by the way, danielle; good luck with your interview. harrison knows the company you were talking about, he says they're kind of a big deal. rock on!

Don't know if I should be happy for you or not. Loosing a job is always a big blow in my country but I have no idea how it goes at the US.
Still, working overtime and not getting paid seriously sucks =/ honest workers are getting the least attention these days.

Funny you say that, I've been working in graphic design and web design. But it still seems to not be enough. I need more eggs and more baskets.

You seem to be dealing with the situation in the best possible way. Even though I've never been in that situation, we seem to think alike. Keep it up, I'm sure you'll do great. :)
