TEAM DANGER, AWAY!

Wed Sep 23, 2009, 9:09 AM
Lots of stuff going on.
First of all, I recently got a job for AT&T doing web design (not as exciting as it sounds), so I'm very very busy which is why the whole art thing is kinda not happening right now.
Another reason for no posts around DA is due to the fact that me and a couple pals-o-mine are working on a not-so-secret-project. It's a 2-D side scroller beat-em-up reminiscent of the days of Double Dragon and the life. Except our animation and artwork are better.
The name of the game is called Directors Cut, and you can read all about it at our not so fancy (but hopefully soon to be fancy) blog:
[link]
We typically update it every week with some new info, artwork or whatever. Fell free to post, comment and just over all tell us what you think! If any major developments arise, and I remember to, I'll post info on here as well.

The team working on this game is called....wait for it...
TEAM DANGER.
This will not be our only project. Far from it actually. But it IS our first one, although we have ideas floating around for other projects as well.
The team consists of 3 SCAD grads in the ATL area, whom shall remain nameless as it makes us sound...mysterious and even a tad dangerous.

So tell your friends, families and enemies (cause we don't discriminate) about the game. The more support, the less lazy we will be :)

Lastly, Northern Georgia....specifically the Atlanta area is all sorts of flooded. I have not been able to go into work this week, so I've been taking care of freelance and working on game related fun times.
Hopefully the flooding ends for this weekend as I am supposed to go up and see the Petite Le Mans on Saturday. 12 hours of endurance racing, and Audi will be there! Hooray!

Coconuts

Tue Jul 14, 2009, 12:27 PM
So, I have decided it is time for me to redo coconuts now that i don't completely suck at all things animation, and have the ability to animate Pancho, Franz and Drake the way they should have been. Plus, I can do it relatively quickly now. Most of the work is alright, such as character designs, and a good half of my layouts. But now I have the ability to take my giant-ass layouts and do the compositing in after effects, therefore saving flash from a heartattack. I'll probably change some angles, add in some shots to make the pacing better and more coherent.
And now, I also have people like Patty-cakes and Tripp to run shit by! Hooray!

Now, I need to catch my flight, so I'm outta here!

An update, yes.
Holy bajeezes I have been busy. I've been doing a lot of drawing, but unfortunately, it's all freelance, so there's nothing I can show here. This week will be a tad bit slower in terms of freelance since a deadline is later than usual. Woo! That should give me time to both draw AND play video games. I hope.

I've been debating on maybe doing commissions or something, but...I don't think anyone would want them, haha. Maybe when I actually have more stuff to show here, since right now I have...nada.

On another note, Higashi no Eden is freakin awesome. I haven't really had an anime I've been into since Macross Frontier last year, so I'm pretty happy to have something to enjoy. If you're looking for something to watch, Higashi no Eden is a really good choice.

Time to get crackin!

Tue Mar 10, 2009, 9:45 AM
I had a great talk with a well known animation prop designer, Geoffrey Kater. he worked on such shows as "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?"as well as the silver surfer and many others. Apparently he is a friend of a friend of my mothers, and so I was passed down a chain and we arranged a phone call to just chat and for him to critique my work.

Oh man did he rip me a new one. It was something I had needed for a long time. I was stuck in an endless cycle of pats on the back and smiles with no one really giving it to me straight. He pointed out all my weaknesses and commented on my strengths. Weaknesses such as that I clearly draw women more than men, that my hands are pretty hit or miss (mostly miss) and that I usually feel pretty uncomfortable leaving my comfort zone. He pointed out strengths that I personally thought were weaknesses, such as my backgrounds and color, and the fact that, when appropriate I can adapt to different styles.

It was fantastic, and I felt so refreshed after wards. I think he was surprised that I took it all so well haha. I mean, 90% of the people I know cannot take a critique for anything, and I know even I will get defensive over my work sometimes (usually right after I think I may have finished it) but I was so happy to be getting honest unbiased feedback. I even took notes. So, from me, for a whie anyways, my work will probably be pretty terrible as I try and strengthen my weaknesses. I'll draw more hands, and better, I'll draw more men and boys and animals. I'll draw old people and young people and maybe even dead people.

On another unrelated note, Joe and I got a dog. Although, he's not really a dog so much as a cartoon of a dog. he has giant ears and is a total spazoid. His name is Jin, and I will most likely make drawings of him, as well as my evil cat Nero, and my retarded cat Nixi.

Job lost, self found

Wed Dec 10, 2008, 9:50 PM
It seems I may finally have time to brish up on my drawing skills. After 2 months of not being paid and driven into the ground by my suckface of a company, I finally had to quit my job. So now my time is spent playing Kingdom hearts re:Chain of memories, drawing, working on a freelance studio project, and looking for a new paying job. i have to say though...it's amazing what a job will teach you about yourself. Especially when shit gets tough. I am one damn hard worker. Even when I wasn't being paid I still worked crazy overtime while some of my other coworkers sat around and starred at their screens. I didn't even WANT to be working. Guess I'm more of a New Yorker than I'd like to believe. It's what happens when your Grandfather teaches you what a real work ethic is by example from a very young age.

Hopefully this means I'll have real time to draw. As in real time, not the fake pretend time that used to be dangled in front of my face on weekends and then be taken away with one horrible phonecall from work.

On another note, I really love Super H-mart. We found ne out in Riverdale, which isn't too far from my house! Korean supermarkets ftw!

Also, I love Christmas time. I decorated the house with lights and garland and reindeer, and it makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. Now, I need to figure out how to work the fireplace.
